Amidst speculations that Apple may
launch the next-generation iPhone with a larger screen, a new report
from The Wall Street Journal claims the company and its Asian suppliers
are testing larger screens for iPhones and tablets.
Citing officials at the company's
suppliers, the report claims that Apple in the recent months has tested
screens larger than 4 inches diagonally for its next-gen iPhone.
Besides, Apple has also asked for larger screens for its new tablet
measuring slightly less than 13 inches.
However, it is not clear whether these
designs will make to the market. Apple reportedly routinely tests
designs for its products as it refines them during development, says the
report.
Last week a Bloomberg report also hinted
the same. The report claimed that Apple may delay the introduction of
the new iPhone, and push the launch date to the end of this year. If the
Bloomber report is to be believed, the delay in the launch of the
next-gen iPhone is said to be because Apple has apparently decided to
change its design to feature a bigger 4.3-inch retina display screen.
Rumours are doing the rounds that the
iPhone 5S will feature a display carrying twice the pixels than the
current generation, iPhone 5. Speculations are rife that the iPhone 5S
will come with a quad-core processor. Earlier reports claimed that the
iPhone 5S will come with a thinner bezel, thereby adopting the iPad mini
like design, and will ship in September.
Reportedly, Apple is also working on a cheaper iPhone model that could win it some market share in developing countries.
