After Samsung, now Asus
India is sending out invites to the tech press to launch a new Android
device in the country. The company will be unveiling its Fonepad on
April 24 at a press event. There is no word on exact the pricing, but as
per indicative pricing revealed by Asus in the global announcement,
Fonepad should cost around INR 15,000.
Asus Fonepad is the first Asus Android tablet to be powered by an Intel processor and would be joining the company’s growing tablet line-up in the country. Asus India already retails Nexus 7, Memo Pad and Padfone devices.
Originally showcased at the Mobile World Congress, Asus Fonepad sports a 7-inch display with 1280x800p resolution. The tablet is powered by Intel Atom Z2420 processor, which is also present in XOLO’s entry-level smartphone X500.
Fonepad runs on Android 4.1, but would be getting Android 4.2 update soon along with Memo Pad. Asus has already released 4.2 Jelly Bean update recently for Memo Pad Smart 10 and the 7-inch version is next in line.
