In the beginning Samsung had announced
that there would be no Android Ice Cream Sandwich
For Galaxy S , then recanted, saying that
he would receive a value pack of Android 4.0 and, finally, turned off the hopes
of users saying that the hardware of the Galaxy S can not support the upgrade .
Waiting to tell if indeed the conversation came to an end, a value pack was
released unofficial Android 2.3.6.
According to what reported ,what’s new in this update are:

- Face Unlock
- Galaxy S2 Photo Editor

Thus, some features of Android 4.0 (as the Face Unlock) have been implemented in Android 2.3.6 , it is clear that an unofficial version and unofficial.The procedure to install this ROM are
- ODIN 1.83 download;
- Download Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Value Pack (XXJVU)
- Extract the second archive downloaded the ROM and put it on your Desktop;
- Close any process related to Kies (launched also the manager of the activity, safety, and close every process related to Samsung Kies);
- Turn off the Galaxy S and turn it on while pressing the Volume Down + Home + Power and step into the Download Mode;
- ODIN launched on the PC;
- Connect the Galaxy S to your PC via the included USB cable, ODIN should recognize;
- In ODIN, click on the PDA and select the file CODE_I9000XXJVU_CL851880_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5 that you extracted from the previously downloaded;
- Now click on PHONE and select MODEM_I9000XXJVU_REV_00_CL1092175.tar.md5;
- Finally, click on CSC and select GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar.md5;
- Click on Start and wait for the end of the installation.
