Two major changes in the Micromax Canvas
HD are that it comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor
and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
As reported by The Mobile Indian earlier, Micromax yesterday unveiled yet another smartphone under its Canvas series. The new smartphone, named Canvas HD A116, will be made available in the first week of February and will be priced under Rs 15,000.
Two major changes in the Micromax Canvas HD are that it comes with a 1.2 GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
It has 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, which are expandable to up to 32 GB through a micro SD card. Like the older Canvas 2 it has a huge 5 inch display and comes with dual cameras as well, including an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front unit.
Moreover, it has support for 3G, WiFi 802.11 (b/g/n), Bluetooth, dual SIM and GPS/A-GPS. However, it has only a 2100 mAh battery.
This has the same design as Canvas 2 A110. The front of the phone has a glass overlay that covers both the display and the non-display part and includes three capacitive menu buttons.
It has a volume rocker on the left panel and a power on/off button on the right side panel, a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top panel and a charging port (which doubles up as a port for attaching a data cable) in the bottom panel.
Micromax A116 Canvas HD has a 5 inch touchscreen with (1280 x 720 pixel) resolution, which is better than Canvas 2. It also has an HD IPS panel, which makes reading and navigation a smooth affair.
There are three capacitive touch buttons on the bottom of the screen (setting, home and return) which were not very responsive, and the response to touch had lag.
Relax, you may not get the same experience when you buy this device from the market next month because the device which we got in our hands was a prototype and the final product will definitely have a smooth user interface.
We clicked a few pictures using the rear camera and they were of decent quality. The 5 inch phablet Micromax A116 Canvas HD has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 0.3 megapixel front facing camera for video chatting.
