The Sony Xperia Z is the latest smartphone to suffer from a lock-screen hack after a video appeared demonstrating how to bypass the mobiles' lock-screen. The problem is very similar to the one that recently plagued Apple's iPhone.
We've posted the video above for you to checkout, but basically the hack involves inputting a code on the Xperia Z's emergency dialler. This gives you access to the smartphone without having to correctly enter a users security code.
Sony have confirmed they are aware of the problem and are presumably already working on a fix. The issue shouldn't be too difficult to resolve and we expect an update to be released sometime this week.
Until then a couple of temporary fixes have been found by owners of the smartphone which include syncing to an Exchange email server or leaving the NFC test application open in the background. Neither solution is ideal , but if your that worried about the issue then they offer peace of mind.
Initial reports suggest that the lock-screen hack also affects other Xperia smartphones with the Xperia S and Xperia SP both thought to be affected. As soon as we get more information on the problem we'll let you know.
Apple will be pleased to learn that they arn't the only company suffering from problems with their lock-screen security. A very similar problem affected Apple's smartphones which they thought they released with the release of iOS 6.1.3, but a new lock-screen hack has surfaced !
