The Samsung Galaxy Star and Pocket Neo are two new devices that have had
their existence confirmed by a proclamation made at the company’s Forum
in South Africa. According to what we had heard before, the latter
handset would be seeing the light of day in mid-May.
Sammy Hub has revealed that the Pocket Neo and Star are reportedly low-range Android phones, running on the 4.1 version of the OS. These handsets continue the maker’s streak of budget smartphones that comprise of the Fame and the Young. The S4 is not the only phone that has been causing whispers which are going around the internet. Speculations about the former phone were also doing the rounds and it seems to have been spot on. A couple of pictures have also managed to find their way online, courtesy of Twitter user Liron Segev.
Details pertaining to both phones include a QVGA display that is said to be sprawling across 3 inches on the front panel. A 2MP rear camera looks like the only medium for users to capture photos and videos, if the leaked images are anything to go by. With seemingly mediocre specs, the handsets will allow storage of content up to 4GB and would consist of 512MB of RAM. The devices also make provision for dual SIM cards to be fitted in. The Star will apparently provide connectivity through 2G.
More specifications about the Neo constitute an 850MHz Cortex A9 SoC and support for 7.2Mbps HSDPA. Further connectivity can be attained via USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. Corroborating our previous article, the device is said to measure 104.9mm × 57.8mm × 11.8mm in dimensions. What still lies unconfirmed is that whether it will be available in a silver shade and the existence of a single SIM version. Though we had noticed a VideoCore IV GPU in the specs sheet a few days back, this attribute is now conspicuous by its absence.
