When Grand Theft Auto 5 finally reaches its release date towards the end of this year it will launch just over a month after Saints Row 4, which is an advantage sure to help the rival franchise slightly. We use the word slightly thanks to the fact that GTA 5 is almost guaranteed to eat the next Saints Row for breakfast in terms of units sold, which can be seen in the last Grand Theft Auto game moving over 20 million units compared to all the Saints Row games falling just short of 12 million.
When you take all the sales figures into account, the franchise from Rockstar Games has tripled its competitor’s success. Both titles look good but GTA 5 has every advantage apart from its release date, which is thanks to a very loyal following that know Rockstar deliver when it comes to an open world game that goes the extra mile.
Some people might find the Alien Invasion idea unappealing in the next Saints Row when compared to GTA 5’s three characters offering, especially if you’re part of the massive following Grand Theft Auto has in the open world action genre.
GTA 5 rival gains release advantage only – we have seen a number of blogs state that Saints Row 4 will gain an early lead on the next GTA thanks to a launch around 5 weeks sooner, and we also notice some bloggers spinning the news with the belief that this lead gives the next Saints Row a chance to take on Rockstar. There is no doubt in our mind that the only advantage Saints Row 4 has is a few weeks, and we doubt many of our readers will ignore the next GTA for that.
The past sales figures speak for themselves and we’re putting our money on GTA 5 winning hands down, although Saints Row 4 will do well thanks to its own following and the hype the next Grand Theft Auto is creating in this genre. Will you purchase GTA 5, Saints Row 4 or both?
You can also count on Rockstar keeping the development cycle for future games like GTA 6, although we might see something a little sooner for Xbox 720 and PS4. You can see what one fan has been doing with a GTA 5 character and business list if you didn’t catch the article earlier this week.
